PRAYER

As a child, my introduction to prayer came through a book of poetry for children:

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.

In those early years when my mother took us to church, I learned The Lord’s Prayer.  But absent the faith that fuels prayer, in college my “prayers” decayed into self-serving requests to some unseen leprechaun for good luck.

Twenty years later, I asked a simple question…and God answered.  Question…or prayer?

Since that blessed day, I have grown in prayer principally by growing in regular communion with God.  What is prayer?  It is either more or less than you think…regulated by rules…or breaking all rules…it is bound not by what we humans are able to conceive of but by what the all-knowing, all–loving God is able to hear.

May these offerings on prayer expand your communion with the Lord!   Cross Filigree
